Something Fun

Do you ever find super flexible and thin pieces of reed in your coil, so wimpy you are afraid to weave with them?
Make reindeer ornaments! The basic pattern can be adjusted to make horses, llamas, giraffes etc.
The ornaments are usually woven in 11/64", 3/16". 1/4" or 7mm flat reeds.

What happens when you find those really wimpy pieces of reed in larger sizes?
You have some fun and weave reindeer wall hangings.

The one on the right is the ornament size woven in 1/4" Smoked flat reed while the reindeer on the left is woven from 5/8" 2nd Color flat reed.
The ornament's body is 2-3/4" long while the wall hanging reindeer's body measures 7-1/4" long.

Start saving those wimpy and thin pieces of reed and weave yourself a whole herd of reindeer for next Christmas!

Different Weaving Material

Looking for something new to weave with?
Try Sugar Palm fiber -http://catalog.countryseat.com/sugarpalmfibrecord.aspx -
A very dark brown that looks almost black, this flexible rope works great in large ribbed baskets, rim filler and accents. It is slightly scratchy so not recommended for seats
